Halar® Thermoplastic Piping System

Ethylene Chlorotrifluoroethylene (E-CTFE) is commonly known by its trade name, Halar®.  Halar® is essentially a 1:1 alternating copolymer of ethylene and CTFE.  It contains about 80% CTFE, one of the most chemically resistant building blocks, which can be used to make a polymer.  It is most likely the best material for handling high concentrations of sodium hypochlorite.  Additionally, Halar® has good electrical properties and a broad-use temperature range from cryogenic to 300º F.  Halar® is an excellent cost-saving substitute to PFA piping.  Applications range from the harshest of chemicals to the purest of hot DI water.  No other known thermoplastic offers as much versatility in chemical resistance and strong mechanical properties as Halar®.

Key Properties

  • Ideal for Harsh Chemical Applications
  • Excellent for Transporting Sodium Hypochlorite
  • Operating Temperatures Ranging from -105° F to 300° F
  • Extremely Low Permeability
  • Can be Substituted for Rigid PFA Pipe
