PVC Thermoplastic Piping System

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is one of the most broadly used thermoplastic materials common to many industries.  PVC piping exhibits exceptional and consistent quality with uniform properties making it the preferred choice of fabricators and custom houses.  It is highly resistant to acids, alkalis, alcohols, and many other corrosive materials.  PVC systems are light, flexible and tough, and provide exceptional corrosion resistance.  Because of these and other properties of a high quality engineered thermoplastic, the savings that can be realized in initial installation and continuing maintenance costs are substantial.  PVC pipe is ideal for numerous applications including chemical distribution and drainage, water and waste water treatment, service piping, irrigation systems, waste collection and many other industrial applications involving corrosive fluid transfer.  Pressure rating varies with schedule, pipe size and temperature.  PVC systems should NOT be used to transport or store compressed air or gases.

Key Properties

  • Outstanding Chemical Resistance
  • Superior Flow Characteristics
  • Low Cost of Installation and Maintenance
  • Light, Flexible, Tough and Dependable
  • Operates at Temperatures up to 140°F (60°C)

PVC Thermoplastic Piping

Schedule 80 PVC Pipe
Schedule 80 PVC piping has a thicker wall then Schedule 40.  The thicker wall makes it stronger and more adept at handling increased pressure.  Schedule 80 piping can also be threaded at the ends, which is not recommended with Schedule 40.

Schedule 40 PVC Pipe
Schedule 40 PVC piping is known for having a larger inside diameter, thus a thinner wall, then Schedule 80.  That causes Schedule 40 to have higher volume and lower pressure inside the pipe, but still the same thermal and chemical resistance.  Schedule 40 also tends to have a lower cost than Schedule 80.

Other Products:  Schedule 120, SDR series pipe in 13.5, 21, 26 and 41 dimensions

PVC Thermoplastic Fittings

Schedule 80 and Schedule 40 PVC Fittings
Schedule 80 and Schedule 40 piping systems have a wide variety of fittings and components.  Schedule 40 PVC fittings are available in white, gray and black, while Schedule 80 PVC fittings are only available in gray.  PVC fittings can either be molded or fabricated.

Molded PVC Fittings
Molded fittings are formed through the injection molding process where PVC compound is injected directly into a fitting mold.  Smaller molded fittings are more cost effective compared to fabricated fittings and are produced in large quantities.

Fabricated PVC Fittings
PVC fittings can be custom fabricated for both Schedule 80 and Schedule 40 piping systems.  The components can be made to virtually any size and specification for either pressure or non pressure applications.  Schedule 80 and Schedule 40 Drain Waste Vent fittings and Low Pressure fittings can also be fabricated.

Other Products:  Transition Fittings & Adaptors, Saddles, Schedule 40 PVC Black Fittings, Metric Fittings, Nipples, Steel Reinforced Fittings
